Data Quality

Facing the Challenges of the Business World

A company stands or falls on the strength of its database. If you choose to centralise the updating of your database, those responsible for the database will become a bottleneck for development. However, if you decide that users themselves must update the database, you are forced to deal with inconsistent, out-of-date, and non-comparable data.

Systematic Collection and Processing

At D&B, we systematically collect data across national borders. Updates are schematic and occur at regular intervals, allowing us to offer quality data on over 210 million companies, 7.5 million corporations, and 93 million individuals worldwide. 1.5 million updates are made to D&B's database each day. Our DUNSRight™ process utilises more than 2000 automatic and manual checks to ensure data quality. We define data quality by taking a critical approach to the data we collect. Data must always be correct, complete, up-to-date, and globally consistent. Learn more about the DUNSRight™ process here.

D-U-N-S®: A Unique Key

A D-U-N-S® number is always unique: Each and every company is assigned a nine-digit code, which follows the company from cradle to grave and is never reused. This means that inactive companies retain their numbers. Combined with corporate family relationships, this provides a complete picture of each company's structure.

Data Cleansing of Current Databases

Data cleansing helps keep your database consistent and updated. We check your data against our own, place D-U-N-S® numbers alongside the companies in the database, and thereafter remove duplicates. We also add data that is missing from the database, for example concerning decision makers and key performance indicators.

Database Maintenance

To keep your database up to date, we offer both offline solutions such as daily data transfer and online updates, giving you access to our continual stream of updates as soon as they are registered.
